PARCC Schedule
Please note that PARCC testing for students in grades 3-6 will begin after April vacation.  PARCC is the state assessment that all public schools are required to administer once a year per the Rhode Island Department of Education.  As educators, we use the state assessment results, along with other information, to adjust our curriculum as needed, design student programming, and make specific budget requests.  All these decisions directly affect the educational experience your child has in the classroom on a daily basis.  I, along with the entire faculty and staff at Metcalf, appreciate your support as we work together to continuously improve the educational experience for our students.

Sessions are scheduled to take place during a 9:00-11:00 window on the days outlined below for each grade level.  Please note that a testing window is given to provide teachers with flexibility in scheduling and that actual tests do not last the entire time.  Again, I thank you kindly for your continued support.

Grade 3:  May 1, 2, 3 10, 11, 12, 15
Grade 4:  April 26, 27, 28, May 4, 5, 8, 9
Grade 5:  May 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 15
Grade 6:  April 25, 27, 28, May 4, 5, 8

Thank you, Mrs. Conklin!

Happy Retirement to you Mrs. Conklin!

As many of you may have heard, today was Mrs. Conklin's last day at Metcalf School.  Mrs. Conklin has been a special education teacher at Metcalf Elementary School since 1988.  She is kind, devoted, and loved by all.  She is also an incredibly dedicated New England Sport fan!  So today the entire school and her family surprised her with an enthusiastic Metcalf "clap-out" to the tune of Take Me Out to the Ballgame to see her off on her well-deserved retirement!  Thank you, Mrs. Conklin, for your 29 years of service to your students, families, colleagues, and the entire Exeter-West Greenwich community.

Please enjoy this moving video of Mrs. Conklin's send off at the following link:  Thank you, Mrs. Conklin!

Her Metcalf Walk of Fame!

Greeting her students, past and present.

Surprised and delighted by her family!

Mrs. Conklin, you are loved...and you will be missed!

March Madness at Metcalf!

Pennies for Patients is Up and Running!
Pennies for Patients runs from Monday 3/6 to Friday 3/24.
Please encourage the children to donate their spare change to this very important cause. Boxes are in classrooms to collect donations that students bring in each day and will be collected by student council members each Friday. There will be rewards each week for the top three classes and a grand prize of a pasta lunch for the class that raises the most money overall. Of course, it is important that we remind students that the real reward is knowing we are helping others :)
